why does it keep asking to open php file?

Hi,

Very new to all of this – so possibly a very simple question. 😮

I have the the code <form method=”post” action=”Sendcallme.php”> on my HTML file and I have a file called Sendcallme.php as well.
My HTML has a form that I am trying to test that has a submit button on it to send information to my email.

I am using dreamweaver and everytime I go to test to see if the submit button works it asks me if I want to open, save or cancel the file Sendcallme.php – why is it doing this?? Do I have to load the page onto the web to test or do I need to setup a test server so that I can play about with this so that no one else can view it?? If a test server is required to be setup can someone please help me on this???

@ahk2chanAug 19.2006 — Yes, A test server is required to be installed locally if you want to test locally. It keep asking you to open the file because the browser simply try to fetch your local PHP file (just like a text file) and the browser doesn't understand the type... so it asks if you want to save the file.

I have loaded on XAMPP and I no longer get the message about opening the PHP file when running on the local host (thanks!) but I was wanting to know should I be receiving an email when my form is submitted when I am running from the local host as I am wanting to ensure that the email comes through to the right place.
