php change format of var

I’m loading a list of files:
2006-May.txt
2006-February.txt
2006-June.txt
2005-September.txt
2006-April.txt
2005-February.txt
2005-June.txt
2005-March.txt
2005-October.txt
2005-August.txt
2005-May.txt
2005-January.txt
2005-July.txt
2004-March.txt

When I load them to a var how do I create a new var that will look like:
March 2004
July 2005
etc
