@ByteMyCode_comJul 29.2006 — #Saving the file as a JPEG can dramatically shrink an image's size and you can use a prorgam like GIMP to see exactly how much detail will be lost (and toggle the quality/file size trafeoff). You can also install mod_gzip on your Apache web server to serve all web files (HTML and images) in compressed form to reduce the amount of bandwidth that you use. GZIP is lossless so there will be no drop in image quality.
@elainebludfairyauthorJul 29.2006 — #um.. thank you bytemycode i have checked those sites you gave but im not sure how to operate them :o
er.. ive been reading and found something about jpeg2000 format?? ..i even downloaded the freeware and it looks easy and nice to use.. it compresses my jpeg files half or even lower half its size..
only im not sure web browsers will support it though coz i cannot preview it even in my computer in jp2 extension..
@ByteMyCode_comJul 30.2006 — #I've never used JPEG2000 but I know that standard JPEG is supported by all browsers. GIMP is hard to use but Paint Shop Pro is a little more user-friendly and supports JPEG.
