select folder of images for a slideshow

I am a newbee who few slideshows in javascript, nothing too fancy I might add!

However, I was wondering whether its possible to select an entire folder of images for use in an array for the slideshow. I am sure it must be but wonder whether I can do this with my limited javascript knowledge. Is it javascript?

Has anyone got an example of an image slideshow with a pre-selected folder providing the images?
