radio issues

you may know the trick but if you name two radio buttons the same only one of them can be selected at a time, for those who don’t here’s an example

[code=html]<input type=”radio” name=”from”><input type=”radio” name=”from”>[/code]

now for some reason if i put a selected attribute as in,

[code=html]<input type=”radio” name=”from” SELECTED>[/code]

in most cases the radio button would be selected but neither of them are selected.

can someone help me with a work around for this?
