If some webpage has been crawled and cached (saved) in Google cache and after a while the page or the whole site which contains the page has been removed from the web and no longer exists. For how long that page will stay saved in Google cache after it’s gone?
@Compguy_PeteJul 03.2006 — #sorry for the delay... I started posting a reply the other day then something came up...
Your best bet would be to put a expire meta tag in place
If your looking to get an old site removed you can follow a policy in place with google that can be found on their webmaster page. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/
@felgallJul 03.2006 — #You can also specify noarchive in your meta robots tag if you don't want Google (specifically) to cache the page in the first place.
@thoughtcubeJul 11.2006 — #However, there is no guarantee that you will be removed, based on a meta tag. One search engine may do so, while another may not.
In general, it is best to assume that whatever you put up on the web might be up for all time...
