Data editing code

I’m trying to build an edit capability into my site, fairly typical stuff; view a profile for an individual or organization in a form, modify the data then submit it to update the database. Also need to be able to enter a new record to the database table.

Normally I would try to find a tutorial with as simple as possible an example and fiddle with it to gain an understanding, then build it into what I need.

In this case I can’t find an example that is fairly basic, usually they seem to get into more complex constructs and features. One of those cases where Google throws up so much it’s hard to find the one you need.

Can anyone point me to a fairly basic example or tutorial that will show me how to code a single .php file that will allow the user to;

I’d also like to be able to have a function to delete a record, though for the moment that’s not a must-have.
