phpMyAdmin not finding database

Perhaps this a dumb newbie question, but I’ve installed phpMyAdmin-2.8.2 on a client’s server. I had already created a database with several tables using the ISPs clunky interface.

Now, having set the config.inc.php file up with my localhost, username, and password, I upload phpMyAdmin. I am then able to log in to phpMyAdmin, and the name of the localhost displays, but there are no databases found. Is there some step I’ve left out in my ignorance?
