permissions from cute to unix server

Ive had a funny thing happen recently across a few customers sites and this might help others too so I will post this for general info.

Somehow permissions are going from public write (CHMOD 777) to non public write (755) at intervals …

these intervals we dont know when exactly but the scripts stop working because these permissions change then we know they are wrong. So where to know why the folder permssions are changing, maybee its when I upload using cute as I have the annoying file attribute of read-only on every single folder on my client machine, this cannot be cleared by any method neither!!! theres a lot of threads discussing that online and its another story.

Could it be that?
