audio in email newsletter

There’s a client who claims they’ve received emails that automatically play audio within their email client. I’m guessing the audio is embedded in Flash but then after doing research there are compatibility issues with viewing embedded flash files in most email programs. Is there another way to embed audio in an email that works for everyone?

@felgallMay 11.2006 — There would be no way that works for everyone because the best you can do for plain text emails is to send the audio file as an attachment. With HTML emails most people have images, javascript, objects etc all turned off for security reasons so it wouldn't play there either.
