move between directories

Here is my example.

If I have a folder called Main where all my files are, and within this another folder called Folder One.

If I am editing a file in Folder One and I wish to make a link to a file n the Main folder how do I move back up a directory?

if I haven’t explained this clearly let me know and i will try again.
