I wonder if someone has any experience with what people here (Panama) call “Muestra de Trabajo”, the direct translation would be a Work Demo, or Proof of Work, I hope you get the idea by now.

They are always looking for web designers around here, and whenever I apply for a job as a web designer, I usually give the interviewer a copy of my work in a CD, for he or she asks me for one.

The CD is divided into a graphics section (most of the things here are just drawings I have made for Corel and Illustrator), scripts (basic and advanced scripts for ASP.Net and PHP) and then a couple of webpages (some of which were never finished but look nice).

Thing is, I never get the job, funny and sad at the same time.

So what am I doing wrong? How do these people look at those CDs? Do they keep them, or they go straight to the garbage can along with my resume?

Thanks for any info.

@schizoApr 22.2006 — Instead of just handing the interviewer your CD, view it with them while you're there. That should give you a better idea how they feel about your work, and it will also provide you the opportunity to discuss it in detail.
