Video Watermark!? possible!?

Hello guys,

Here’s something i’ve been looking for quite some time now and no results…
Im about to develop an uploading movies files system and well with them being on the net already users will want to link to this video they uploaded, but it is wanted that whenever this video is played it shows the logo of the site, so it is a watermarking of the video what I need.

I know how to watermark an image but I dont think that works for a video.

And I have seen it in youtube.com so I know its possible

any way you can think of?
Thanks for your time ?

@felgallApr 21.2006 — What software are you uising to create the video. I assume the watermarking option (if any) would be in that software somewhere.

@purefanauthorApr 21.2006 — no software. This has to be done after the file is uploaded to the server or when its being played, whatever works.

I do not handle the video creation, just the upload and playback

@balloonbuffoonApr 23.2006 — Yeah, I would think it would be really easy with flash. Can flash play video files as is? I would think you could just put a watermark image over the movie as it plays, or before/after it plays. Then the people can link to the flash file.

@delr2691Apr 23.2006 — yep.. flash can do that stuff.. you just have to add a mask over the video that's being played.. also you can pass parameters to the player so you know wich file to play..

@schizoApr 23.2006 — Without you directly importing the video, Flash can only play back external FLV's or SWF's.

@balloonbuffoonApr 23.2006 — That's what I kind of thought. But can't you play videos as-is in Macromedia Director files? Are those web-capable or not?

@purefanauthorApr 24.2006 — Im not sure how useful is this but I read at the macromedia site that the MX and newer are capable of playing avi, mpg etc

So if I 'compile' a flash project under MX will it be able to play the avis and mpgs?

@balloonbuffoonApr 24.2006 — I would think so, you just need to send it a variable with the video file name, so it knows what to play.

@DeseoOct 05.2006 — i add logo to video with the help of the tool VidLogo, i think, it'll do for your case.
