_vti_cnf files

Good Morning

My web site contains a lot of files that I did not create i.e. _vti_cnf which seems to have a seriers of files which are almost a repeat of the files in the applicable folder although much smaller. It almost seems that they might be shortcuts or something.

As said, I did not create these so they must have been created by Front Page or Dreamweaver at some point.

The problem is that I have account with a limit of 25 MB of which I have only 2000 Kb remaining but my complete website, on my computer, is only something like 10 MB so what is using the remaining space???

Does any one know exactly what these vti_cnf files do and are they necessary???

@brendandonhueMay 31.2003 — The files are created by frontpage. I do not know if you can delete them.
