@skilled1Apr 19.2006 — you should not be using that code anyway.

@XherziuauthorApr 19.2006 — Well blinking text is fun and I want people in IE to see it. IE doesn't support <blink></blink> anymore?

@drhowarddrfineApr 19.2006 — Blinking text is annoying.

@MistshadeApr 20.2006 — I agree blinking text is annoying and can cause seizures.

@felgallApr 20.2006 — There have been people end up in hospital as a result of blinking text. If you must blink your text then do it using Javascript and set a blink rate of below once per second.

@downcodeApr 20.2006 — with the blinking thing is there a way to have a slow blink using HTML... and choosing the seconds between colours...(USING HTML!)?

sorta off topic:

I have been on many sites and I get those annoying popups regularly.

eg. you are the 10,000,000 visitor, click here to claim your prize.

you know those popups... lol, well they have tonnes of blinking...

sorry to post in your topic Xherziu but its better than posing the same thing in a new topic...

@felgallApr 20.2006 — There is no command for blinking with HTML and the CSS one only works on very few browsers and is deprecated.

The only cross browser way to make something blink are animated gifs, Javascript, or embedded objects (eg. Java or Flash).
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@welshApr 20.2006 — gifs would probally be your best bit as they work on all browsers.
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@felgallApr 20.2006 — Not when you have your firewall set to disable gif animations they don't.

None of the options is going to work in web readers either.

@ray326Apr 20.2006 — None of the options is going to work in web readers either.
But it would be annoying as hell if it did, continually reading the blinking text over and over while continuing to read the rest of the page. ?

@XherziuauthorApr 20.2006 — <blink></blink> works in FF. And it's not all my text that blinks, it's just one word to emphasize it. So it's really not annoying at all on my website, kinda cool actually.
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@WattsApr 20.2006 — Blinking text is an etiquette thing... kinda like farting in public, or typing in all caps - it's generally frowned upon. I don't think I've seen the blink tag supported since Netscape 2x or so....
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@felgallApr 21.2006 — There is a text-decoration:blink in the stylesheet specifications but it got deprecated because no web browser was prepared to take the risk of implementing it. I guess none of them can afford the billions in compensation that they would have to pay because of all of the people hospitalized as a result of blinking text. By not providing an easy method to make text blink they can let the page owner be the one to pay the compensation.

@XherziuauthorApr 21.2006 — Felgall if you don't believe me then go here ... http://xherziu.sphosting.com

That's my website just view source and you will see that <blink></blink> does too work.

In FF that is.
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@felgallApr 21.2006 — I didn't say it doesn't work. It has never been a part of the standards because that is a presentational aspect not a content aspect and should therefore be done using stylesheet commands. If blink had been part of the standards it would have been deprecated long ago because so many people find it annoying and others have actually ended up in hospital just because of one blinking word. Using it is a good way to drive people away from your site.
