Hiya, I have recently just took at internet course in college and found that I really really enjoy writing html stuff (spents almost 9 hours creating my 1st homework project on it) WEll, I have decided to try to teach myself more since it was just basic html and found this site which I think is the most helpful site on the internet. Now to my questions…I am not looking for someone to write code or anything like that…I am looking for links or sections that I may have overlooked on how to learn myself to write the coding….

question #1 I understand that the writer used tables to create a sidebar in the link above but he also used something called div which I have never seen before. . Where can I find a tutorial on how to write this? (the basic tables section doest answer this).
Question 2: What language are these forums written in? I wish to create something similar on my practice site and need to know what I need to learn/study. Any tutorials on how to make these?
Again, not looking for someone to write it for me…just an idea of what the correct word to use in a search engine to find the tutorials or direct links.
P.S. I do not use any type of web editor, I prefer to write these using notebook. I would rather learn it the hard way before I use something like dreamweaver or such.
