adding a JS code ito HTML

i am trying to insert a JS codei nto a DIV like this :

[code=php]
<div id=”ddd”>sdfsdf
</div>
<input type=”button” onclick=”update()”>
<script>
function update(){
ddd.innerHTML=”<script>alert(‘1’)</script>”;
}
</script>
[/code]

but this isnt working why?

@phpnoviceApr 02.2006 — Other than at page load time (i.e., using [B]document.write()[/B]), I haven't seen a good method yet for getting dynamically inserted script blocks (i.e., using [B][I]object[/I].innerHTML[/B]) to be recognized by the browser scripting engine.
