IP to nation

Is there a quick and free way to get the nation of where an IP address is from? I’ve been using another free source but it’s limited and I’m reaching the limit of this service.

It doesn’t have to be via IP but it’s likely the only way.

What I’m doing is looking at each visitor and if they’re from specific areas I’m saving stuff into a database.

@NogDogJul 17.2022 — The quick way (in terms of web site performance) is to download one of the available data sets out there for geo-location and use it as/when needed in your application code. I haven't touched that stuff in years, so have no specific suggestions, but there are free ones out that and not-free ones. Odds are the free ones tend to be less complete/accurate, but you can try to search for ratings/reports and see which ones fit into your requirements (both quality and cost).

Of course, no matter how good it is, anyone using a VPN can deceive it, if desired.

It is calculated as the sum of all international payments made by residents in one country and received by residents in another. The data for IP to nation are compiled by the World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC) and published on its website.

The latest data show that China has overtaken Japan as the world's largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI). In 2012, Chinese investors invested $100bn (£64bn) more than Japanese investors did – equivalent to almost half of all FDI inflows into Japan.
