I’ve got my site on Google Search Console, when I do a URL inspection, I get I load a “page resources couldn’t be loaded” error.

From research into this it’s Google trying to say resources loaded too slowly and therefore on a slow mobile connection they wouldn’t load.

When I test the live page I get “Page is mobile friendly” but I also get error reports in my email with errors like clickable elements to close together etc and likely caused by the CSS not loading.

Trying to solve this and make me wonder. Could I write a PHP script that got the contents of my .CSS files and echod it onto my page as ‘inline CSS’?

Would this speed it up?

I don’t have the budget to pay for a CDN and ultimately

Outside of PHP are there any other ideas?

I use Cloudflare as CDN to speed up my test site. There is a free account that covers my basic needs for increase the speed.

https://hosting.go4webdev.org/cloudflare . Cloudflare have options to minify CSS and Javascript. The site is also cached automagically.

This experimental tutorial (work in progress...) on https://go4webdev.org all sites have a speed rate above 90 and by using https://web.dev (https://hosting.go4webdev.org/howto) I have fine tuned every aspect to increase the speed. Hope you find something that could help you...
