Java Classes

Java Fundamental Classes Reference

Publisher: O'Reilly
Author: Mark Grand and Jonathon Knudsen
ISBN: 1565922417
Publication Date: 01-MAY-97
Retail Price: $44.95

O'Reilly's Java Fundamental Classes Reference provides the Java programmer with a complete reference documentation on the core Java 1.1 classes that make up the java.lang, java.io, java.net, java.util, java.text, java.math, java.lang.reflect, and java.util.zip packages. This book, part of O'Reilly's Java documentation series, describes Version 1.1 of the JDK. It includes easy- to-use reference material and provides lots of sample code to help you learn as you try out the techniques.

This book takes you beyond what you'd expect from the standard reference manuals. Classes and methods are described in detail, but the book also offers tutorial-style explanations of the important classes in the Java core API. The first section contains chapters that describe the ins and outs of strings and related classes, effective thread programming, and the use of the I/O classes, to name just a few of the topics.

The Java Fundamental Classes Reference is meant to be used in conjunction with another O'Reilly book, the Java AWT Reference. Together, these two manuals cover all of the classes of the Java core API.
