Basic Div's in external JS file

Although this is from before 'New Users' forums. I am still having a stupid problem. It is so basic, I am afraid to even ask, but I went brain dead and can't figure out the smallest thing. I did search, but it must be so basic, it is not even listed anymore.

What is the problem you are having? Is it an error or some unexpected behavior perhaps?
