Welcome to WebDeveloper.com's threaded discussion forums! Please feel free to ask questions, express your opinions, and help others to the best of your ability. We have only two rules: keep it clean and respectful of others, and no spamming or outright advertising in messages. Other than that...have fun!

The only purpose of the cookies is to keep track of your name/email address (so you don't have to type them in again) and which articles you've read between visits. What the Heck Are Threaded Discussions?

For the uninitiated, threaded discussions are simply a "written" version -- hosted or posted on a Web page -- of what would be conversations in "real life". Let's say you go to a party; you might find people talking about their kids, houses, fishing, or baseball. Each of those topics is a "thread"; someone will start talking about a subject, and others will reply, until they mutually agree that the subject has been covered adequately, then they start talking about something else (in actual practice on the Net, this almost never happens :-).

The most (in)famous example of computer-based threaded discussions is Usenet, which many people refer to as "newsgroups". A good place to find out more about Usenet is at DejaNews.
